SUMMER 2025
OF The End of Loneliness
A COUPLE SESSION ON THE OVERGROWN HUTBERG IN THE LUSATIAN HIGHLANDS
The Hutberg near Kamenz is actually most famous for its beautiful rhododendron bloom from late April until roughly early June. But even outside this period, it is a clear recommendation for a romantic day for two.
The nature within the park, which is relatively easy to reach by car from either the parking lot at the bottom of the mountain or the parking lot near the Waldbühne (forest stage), seemed almost wild away from the paths.
This impression was probably due to the fact that the session took place after a long and rainy July. It was the beginning of August and one of those rare periods in the summer of 2025 that actually felt like summer: with a warm 28° in the late afternoon transitioning into the evening and a sun that was already about to set behind the high canopies of the many trees to the west.
We started at the top of the mountain, where the sun was still shining fully and created an almost magical atmosphere. The motto of the hour was movement. Firstly, to make ideal use of the spotlight and secondly, to break the ice. And what is better suited for that than a spontaneous initial dance?
One outfit change later, after a few more pictures on a beautiful open meadow, we began to descend the mountain to capture the light there, which was now only glowing furtively between the foliage, for our session.
We finally found ourselves at a beautiful clearing that I had previously written on my must-do list during location scouting, and captured a few images there under a large maple. The two had read the book Vom Ende der Einsamkeit (The End of Loneliness) by Benedict Wells together, and at exactly this spot, Cheyenne and Tim took it in their hands once again as a silent symbol of their shared story, before laughing and making it disappear into the backpack again.
On the way back up, towards the mountaintop, we spontaneously stopped at an open meadow after a wild rabbit hopped across our path there. Unfortunately, it was much too fast for me and my camera – you should simply never put it down.
Once at the very top, we also climbed the Lessing Tower to take a few pictures on its viewing platform in the embracing sunset and enjoy the panorama.
On the final path to the parking lot, we took advantage of the last sunbeams which quickly turned into a truly warm red and simply represented a perfect end to this romantic session.
And somewhere in the background, I’m on Fire by Bruce Springsteen was playing, the perfect soundtrack to a session that felt like a movie.
